Sleep Deprived? Here’s How to Fix Puffy Eyes, Stat

We’re willing to bet that the majority of the population doesn’t get 8+ hours of sleep per night (us included). But how do some people look bright-eyed at all times? They likely use one, or all, of these depuffing tricks on the reg. Here are four puffiness remedies that fake a blissful night’s sleep, even if it was more like an extended nap.

Green Tea

And we don’t mean drinking it (although you could do that, too). Green tea is full of antioxidants and depuffing elements, and when cool tea bags are placed under your eyes, the leaves help to alleviate that dreaded puffiness. The caffeine helps to shrink blood vessels around your eye, brightening dark circles; antioxidants add a glow; and tannins stimulate healthy blood circulation, while helping to tighten and soothe skin. All you have to do? Steep two tea bags in hot water for three to five minutes. Remove them from the water and pop them in the fridge for 20 minutes. Then, squeeze out any excess liquid so they’re just damp (not dripping), lay down, and apply the bags to your under eyes for 15 to 30 blissfully relaxing minutes. Ta-da! Brighter eyes are yours.

Aloe Vera

We’ve all slathered on this jelly-like moisturizer after forgetting to reapply sunscreen. But it’s also a great ingredient for under eye puffiness. It’s lightweight, but super hydrating, and also creates a little bit of a skin tightening effect. Keep it in the fridge for even more depuffing benefits and glide a small dose under your eyes for a super soothing remedy.

Tap, Tap, Tap

Strapped for time? A 30 second self-massage is all you need. Using your index and middle fingers, gently tap in a circular pattern around your eyes. Start from the inner corner of your brows, go outward toward your temples, and circle down and around over your cheekbones and in toward your nose, repeating three times in total. The gentle tapping brings blood flow to the area, which helps to fade dark circles and diminish puffiness in the most feel-good way possible.
