When you see a product with resveratrol on the ingredient list, do you run for the hills or add two to your cart? After reading this article, we think you’ll be doing the latter!

We’re here to clear up resveratrol’s name, improve its street cred, and show you that this magical ingredient is an added bonus to any skincare routine.

What Is Resveratrol?

Resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant found in nature that does a great job of helping our bodies protect themselves.

Reservatrol can be found in:

  • Supplements
  • Foods
  • Skincare

When ingested through supplements and foods, resveratrol can protect the body against diseases such as diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and heart disease. Isn’t that amazing?

It can be found in the skin of red grapes, berries, peanuts, and even cocoa!

Wait a minute – the skin of red grapes..as in… red wine? Yes! Resveratrol can be found in red wine!

What Are The Benefits of Resveratrol?

Resveratrol has many great benefits when ingested, but we’re truly interested in what this antioxidant can do for your skin when applied topically.

Many skincare brands are interested in resveratrol for its anti-aging properties. Studies have uncovered its antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties as well.

When applied to the skin, Resveratrol can:

  • Fight signs of aging
  • Protect the skin barrier
  • Reduce redness
  • Even skin tone
  • Deeply hydrate
  • Improve the overall appearance of skin

According to Good Housekeeping, resveratrol can even improve elasticity, calm inflammation, and reduce hyperpigmentation.

Who wouldn’t want to have more of these benefits in their skincare routine? This is one of those do-it-all ingredients!

Why is Resveratrol Important In Your Skincare Routine?

If the benefits of resveratrol are still too good to be true, we’re going to explain how this one ingredient can transform your skincare routine.

Protect

Have you ever noticed that your skin gets a dull, gray cast over it when you’ve been out in a big city or traveling? Pollution in the air is the culprit, and resveratrol is fully equipped to combat it!

Skincare experts briefed Elle Magazine on reservatrol’s ability to “form soluble, complex molecules with certain metal ions, inactivating them so they cannot produce free radical formation”.

That’s a fancy way of saying resveratrol is the perfect potion for fighting oxidative stress associated with free radicals in the air.

Skincare with resveratrol can also stimulate collagen production and boost antioxidant levels, so you can reduce signs of aging while protecting your skin from the environment.

Prevent

If you’re looking to prevent premature aging and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles (aren’t we all?), then make sure your skincare routine includes products with resveratrol.

According to Healthline, “a study found that topical applications of resveratrol significantly improved fine lines, wrinkles, and elasticity in 12 weeks”.

It’s been proven that resveratrol can penetrate the skin barrier easily, which means that it’ll bring all of that anti-aging activity with it! More potent treatment and faster results? Sign. Us. Up!

Soothe

Whether you have acne-prone skin, redness, cracked skin, or all of the above, resveratrol is perfect for you! With soothing and calming properties for the skin, this powerful antioxidant can reduce inflammation and promote wound healing.

Who Should Use Reservatrol in Their Skincare Routine?

Using resveratrol in your skincare routine is safe for all skin types and ages.

However, if you take blood thinning medication or have a bleeding disorder, consult your doctor or dermatologist before using products with resveratrol.

If you’re not sure if you’re allergic to grapes or wine, you can also do a patch test to be safe.

Where Can You Find Reservatrol in Skincare?

Now knowing the countless benefits of incorporating resveratrol into your skincare, there’s no surprise this ingredient has made its way into some of the best skincare products.

Our favorite way to work resveratrol into our skincare routine is through sheet face masks and under-eye gels!

Masks and eye gels are used for at least 10 minutes at a time, which lets the ingredients fully penetrate the skin for maximum benefits.

Below are some fun, yet potent options that will incorporate resveratrol into your skincare routine!

The Rosé Collection

The Rosé All Day collection was practically made to be the perfect introduction to resveratrol.

It was designed to give you all the benefits of the resveratrol found in grapes and wine without sipping an alcoholic beverage.

In just 10 minutes, you can rejuvenate and refresh your skin while releasing the decadent and luxurious scent of rosé.

And hey, if you want to eat some grapes or sip some wine while you wait, it definitely can’t hurt!

Pro tip: keep your sheet mask and eye gels chilling in the fridge until they’re ready to use. Your skin will thank you for the cooling sensation and added boost of hydration that will keep it looking fresh all day long.

2 Tips to Remember When Using Reservatrol

Reservatrol is a safe ingredient when used properly. Here are 3 tips to remember when using skincare with this ingredient.

#1: Wear Sunscreen

If you’re a fan of using your face masks and eye gels in the morning to start your day, that’s okay too!

Just remember to apply sunscreen with a broad-spectrum SPF of 30 or higher to protect your skin against any sensitivity.

#2: Use Reservatrol At Night

Studies have shown that resveratrol can cause sensitivity to UV rays. For this reason, it’s recommended to use skincare products with resveratrol at night.

Coincidentally, one of the best times to use face masks is unwinding at the end of a long day, so we don’t think this will be much of an issue.
